About me

My Photo
Zaid El-Hoiydi

The triad energy, ecology and evolution plus everything that is related are forming my main centers of interest and my words will usually stand for them.

To the energy topic I highly recommend watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOMWzjrRiBg. This interests me in the most serious way.

Regarding ecology we have: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6687DD4F96D909FE&feature=plcp. It helps me understand the fantastic complexity and the resilience of our biosphere.

And for evolution there is: http://www.youtube.com/user/EvolutionDocumentary. Really for fun, a seemingly infinite source of wonders and new questions.

Photography is also one of my hobbies which helps me to keep my eyes wide open on the world around me and I profoundly love Nature.

I have other penchants, some of them I am quite sure we share, have a look at my mishmash list: Android, iPad, iPod, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Requiem for a Dream, Schindler's List, Gran Torino, The Wire, Dexter, Pink Floyd, Yes, Led Zeppelin, David Sylvian, Dave Brubeck, Satie, Beethoven, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Annette Dasch, Glen Gould, Gary Larson, James Kunstler, fruits & vegetables, expressos, mountain hiking, jogging, running, skying, history and geology.

Now to illustrate my values I found it best to look a bit back in history. Definitely no need to reinvent the wheel here.

  • -- "History teaches us that man learns nothing from history" G.W.F. Hegel
  • -- "Insanity in individuals is something rare—but in groups, parties, nations, and epochs it is the rule." Friedrich Nietzsche
  • -- "A little help at the right time is better than a lot of help at the wrong time." Teyve
  • -- "To reform a man, you must begin with his grandmother." Victor Hugo
  • -- "If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea." Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  • -- "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  • -- "We would worry less about what others think of us if we realized how seldom they do." Ethel Barrett
  • -- "There is no force so powerful as an idea whose time has come" Everett Dirkson
  • -- "Where knowledge ends, religion begins." Benjamin Disraeli
  • -- "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." Voltaire

Concise, meaningful and eternal, we are all blessed to have been born after thousands of sages so that we can enjoy their great legacy.

Some of my older posts from the late Buzz period are here: http://goo.gl/YbyWW. They will certainly better illustrate what I mean in this introduction.
